Section CHair Information

As Chair of the IIDA program in your SECTION, your responsibility is to see that all of the entries conform to the rules and regulations set forth by the IIDA committee, inform designers of the rules and regulations, and enforce those rules and regulations. The IIDA program starts with you; the more problems that are filtered out at the Section level, the more efficiently the program runs. Following are some helpful hints that will allow you to ensure a successful program at the Section level and beyond.

  • Publicize the IIDA program in your mailings and at meetings. Seek out projects and invite the designer to participate. The designer need not be a member of the IESNA.
  • Do NOT accept any entries that have been previously submitted, including entries submitted through another section
  • Ensure that all entries have been submitted with $25 fee. Initial and check the box on the nomination form to indicate that fee had been received.
  • Review projects for problems BEFORE judging to allow time for corrections. A project SHOULD NOT reach the Regional level with errors such as “enhanced photography” or a script in excess of 250 words. Remember that a project cannot be re-submitted after it has received an award, therefore if errors are not corrected at the Section level and are found at the Region level the project could be disqualified and ineligible for re-submission.
  • Make sure that the designers have used the official IESNA IIDA form and that it is completely filled out. Things to check for:
  • o Has the designer checked the category box?
o Has the designer obtained the photographer’s signature?
o Has the designer included the project owners’ information?
o Has the designer indicated the number of images and word count?

  • Review images to see if they are correctly labeled and numbered.
  • Check scripts for word count and inform designers that they must rewrite any scripts that exceed 250 words. (SCRIPT SAMPLE)
  • Refer to the Section Chair checklist/calendar for important instructions and deadlines.
